Hands down my Snoopy. He went everywhere with me, and even got new red silk ears replaced from Santa after they had too much wear. He has gone with all my life, 40 yr old and proud to still have my Snoop!

My favorite childhood object would have to be Bun Bun. He was my stuffed bunny rabbit and my best bud. Bun Bun got so much wear and tear that we had to replace him several times but he was always very hugable and squooshy :)

The beautiful Barbie clothes that my grandmother made for me. The material was more beautiful than anything I had ever seen and the outfits were cooler and more glamorous than I ever have occasion to wear. She also provided gloves, boots, shoes and tiny purses to complete the looks. I spent hours dressing my barbies. They are my treasures.

My favorite childhood object was my Raggedy Ann doll. It was specially made for me by hand by my godmother! I still have it this many years later and now my girls play with it!

    Elizabeth says:

The musical teddy bear that my sister “bought” for me when I was born. (She was two at the time, so she had some help.) I still have it, and it still plays “Teddy Bear’s Picnic,” though a little more slowly these days. When my niece was born, I took my nephew, her three-year-old brother, to pick out a stuffed animal for her, so we could carry on the tradition.

  7. July 27th, 2010 at 11:18 pm

    Clarissa says:

My most cherished childhood object would have to be my stuffed bear. I was 7 when my mom bought him for me, and before I was separated from my sister (she lived in Canada for school, and I went back to Hong Kong to live with my parents), we sat at the top of the stairs in our home, and I asked her, “What should I name him?” and she told me to name him “Danny, but with an ‘i’” after her favorite pop singer at the time.

    Meghan says:

My most cherished childhood object is Frizzle, this scruffy, fuzzy puppet with long limbs and a squeaker in his mouth. I used to fall asleep with his arms wrapped around me and secured by the Velcro on his paws. My mom would often talk to me and kiss me through Frizzle.

    Michelle says:

My most cherised childhood item was actually a book. Noddy and the Toodles. It was a British book and I truly believed that the toodles lived on top of my canopy bed, much thanks to my Grandma who would read the book to me every single night, for who knows how long! This has led to a lifelong passion for imaginary woodland creatures :)

    Lindsey says:

My baby blanket. My father’s sister sewed a Care Bear blanket for me when I was born. It went all over the world with me (Australia, South America, Africa) and was not retired until I went to college. If it weren’t so ragged, I would probably still be sleeping with my blankie today.

Mine is a certificate that my cousin printed and had my whole family sign that was a sweet faux “adoption” certificate saying that my great-aunt “adopted” me as her granddaughter a few years after my grandmother passed away. It was so sweet that they welcomed me into their immediate family and I treasure it!

    Kenny says:

My stuffed animal Kosmic, a Kodak Kolorkin from the 80s that my mom received as a free gift after submitting tons of UPCs from rolls of film we bought. Kosmic went with me everywhere, even to school until I was in Gr. 3 or 4–he’d hide in my back pack!

  15. July 31st, 2010 at 2:58 pm

    Emily Fan says:

My favorite childhood object was a stuffed white hand puppet bear that I named Charity. He had a red bow tie and went with me everywhere in a blue lunchbox! Charity was so loved that he lost all the fur under his armpits. His body also became so worn from all the hugs and washes he received that he always toppled over under the weight of his head when seated. Best bear ever. :)

    Iris says:

My Barney blanket. It was just a white blanket with pictures of barney (&friends) on it. I wouldn’t share it with anyone except my step-dad. We were always really close, and one day I shared it with him while I was watching Sesame Street. My mom thought it was the sweetest thing, but she was also incredibly jealous because I wouldn’t even share it with her, haha. He totally spoiled me though, so I guess that’s why I did it. I remember one night they burned something and used it to get the smoke out of the house, and it got a couple of burn holes in it. I cried even before I knew anything bad had happened to it. I still have it though. Don’t sleep with it, but I know it’s around the house somewhere.

    Zoe, Conversation Pieces says:

My toy rabbit… he’s a rather dapper fellow that I’ve had from day one. He’s got sad glass eyes, a natty waistcoat and at one point had a bow-tie… but since he went everywhere with me when I was wee that got ‘misplaced’! Everytime I watch Toy Story and see Woody panicking about his hat, it makes me feel bad that I lost that darn bowtie! ;)

Nice clockage! As a small child, I loved squirrels – had a pet squirrel once.. and Superman and Batman comic books … and collecting coins out of the change received at the little grocery store down the dusty road.

Elephants are very interesting, but they are a little intimidating – used to see them when the circus rolled into town every summer, along with the clowns. Talk about scary – the clowns were even more frightening than the elephants. Not as big of course, but they had really big feet.

Mine would have to be a sheep skin that I used to sleep on as a baby, and, sadly today, I still have on my pillow. It was once fluffy and yellow and I used to be able to fit on it, now it is tattered, not so yellow, and only fits my head. I can sleep without it, but life is better with it!

    Karen V. says:

My most cherished childhood object was my little stuffed monchichi monkey. It went everywhere I went as a child. Unfortunately, during a family vacation to Disneyland I forgot him in the taxi cab. When I remembered that I left my monchichi sitting on the seat next to me after we got dropped off it was too late and there wasn’t much mom and dad could do. I remember crying and being absolutely crushed! :( Shortly after we returned home from our trip to Disneyland, my dad tried the “we found your monchichi!” with a new replacement but I knew it was not MY monchichi and didn’t want it.

My most cherished childhood object is not really an object as we moved around a lot when I was a kid but it is a photo of me and my grandmother who raised me as a baby. She died when I was 8 and I always have had the framed photo on my nightstand wherever I have lived.

My favorite childhood toy was quite big-it was my strawberry shortcake dresser. I liked it because it was where I got “pretty”, did weather reports, spilled apple juice, hid all my treasures and of course, had strawberry shortcake! That’s long gone now, but I always have fond memories of this dresser.

I have a handmade doll, Lucy. My mom and I called her Lucy-bear when I was growing up but later we realized she wasn’t a bear at all. She was a cat (whisker-less, which is were I think the confusion came in.) I still have her, though now her little dress is so worn and she’s only got one good limb. I pull her out sometimes when I need to be reminded of a time and place that no longer exists. My mom and I now call her Lucy-bear-that’s-really-a-cat.

I had this huge baby blanket, but it wasn’t your typical baby blanket. It was satiny and very thin, with pink roses all over it, with orange borders. It was strangely loud and girly, but I still remember a baby photo of me crawling on it. It lasted quite a long time before it ripped apart but I loved that blanket. It kept me cool on warm summer nights.

My best friend and I met in 1st grade. Growing up, she had a vintage ceramic bank in the shape of a baby elephant. I coveted that bank with everything I had. As an adult, I even scoured ebay for one just like it. When my daughter was born, my wonderful friend gifted her with the bank. It now sits, prominently displayed and frequently admired, on a shelf in her room.

The first book I really discovered and read over and over as a little girl was my mother’s old copy of Grimm’s Fairy Tales. For sure my baby blanket. It’s name was bah bah, but after taking it everywhere i went it became just a piece of cloth that flew off the clothes line and was never seen again. Then I got a monkey stuffed animal. His name was Monk monk. I used to play a game with my parents, and I would throw monk monk out of the window when we were in the car. And we would always stop and go back and get him. But one day i threw him out the window and they didn’t notice. Never to see monk monk again. And then I acquired a new blanket “Watsey” It has been with me for 22 years and I still sleep with it under my pillow every night.

My dollhouse for sure, I played with it long past I probably should! I just put it down to developing my love of interior design at an early age! I still have it and I’m ‘renovating’ it for my oldest daughter for her birthday! I also have a gorgeously illustrated hard cover version of the ‘secret garden’ it’s probably my most cherished book (I was a real book worm) I’m saving that until my children are old enough to appreciate it too.

There was a plastic foot attached to an extendable contraption that I used to “kick” people under the table with. It was used so much that eventually, the big toe had a giant hole in it and so I taped up the hole and it looked like a giant foot with a broken toe bandaid. I don’t know what happened to it after we moved cuz now I’d really like it back to give my husband a swift kick off the couch!

    Roxanne says:

My favourite childhood object is a large salmon-coloured towel that I would rub between my fingers when I went to bed, because I liked the “prickly”-ness of it. It started to fray on the edges as I grew up so my mom would roll in the edges and sew it so that as the years wore on, it became significantly smaller in size. I still have not been able to part with it, and I even brought it with me to university.

I used to have a white stuffed bear with a Christmas hat and bow tie which I named appropriately, Christmas bear. I was chasing my cousin one day and he grabbed Christmas bear and threw him on the floor and Christmas bear’s eye broke off. I burst out in tears, but eventually got over it. I still sleep with him and his cracked eye (which was badly super-glue’d back on) beside my pillow.
